This video is for ‘Sexy Trouble’ which was commissioned by myrobotlover.com. I saw a rough collection of footage for the film before it was edited and wrote a song around the two main characters. This track was debuted on BBC 6 Music in November 2010 and the video was released at the beginning of December 2010.
This is the video for ‘Brick It’, a stop-motion Lego animation with additional animated trickery made by Chris Salt (Oblong Pictures). This video took Chris three months to make and has no less than twenty-one sets including a hat shop. Look out for the Star Wars toilet, the rubber band ‘fries’ and the debut of new Megaburger delicacy Pork Excuse Me. This video received 100,000 views within three months and became a minor viral hit, complete with a posting on B3ta. For behind-the-scenes photos have a look at this set on Flickr.
Here is a low-fi version of the ‘Movements’ video, made in early 2006. The hi-fi version is available on ‘The Sound of the Wonderful Technique’ CD (to play it, you will probably need to use your computer’s DVD player software). The vid was filmed on VHS (deliberately) in March 2006 at The Common Place in Leeds city centre. It was directed by Raymond Kong and edited together at Oblong by him and Claire. Apologies for the shoddy quality – it was uploaded before YouTube allowed decent size video clips.
‘My Butt Hurts’ was a very very spontaneous project. I had an idea for a chant and a dance routine, so we had a few beers and took Katie’s video camera to the Brudenell Social Club on a whim to record the dance. I then wrote the song the day after, after viewing the video back. (I’d like to think this is the first ever pop video that was filmed before the song was written!). All in all, the filming took place on day 1, song written and video edited day 2, video shown at a gig on day 3 – complete with dance troupe. Not bad. The lyrics were inspired by the agony of me, Raino, Katie and Alice carrying all the Printed Circuit gear from my house on Royal Park Grove in Leeds to Unity Day in July 2007. This song has received repeated airplay on BBC 6 Music and BBC Asian Network thanks to Tom Robinson and his crew.
This next one is a video of us playing in Offenbach near Frankfurt in September 2005. The venue is Roxi, a very tiny place that used to be a public toilet!
Finally, a video of me and Andrew taking on a Devo song in a karaoke bar in Toyko, with Pete and his mate. Pete is filming us. Andrew and I have drunk most of the complimentary booze by this point. We also performed songs by Bis and we took great pride in turning up all the equipment as loud as it would go (you could easily hear our room at the other end of the corridor).
