I’ve not been very active with Printed Circuit this year because I accidentally started a SEO copywriting and technical writing company. I haven’t had any free time to make music because the first six months have been so busy.

I am planning a few gigs as soon as I get a few days off to re-work the set…. I’m not done making music or playing live – I’ve just had to put it to one side for a while to pay the bills.

In the meantime, I’ve acquired quite a substantial stock of Printed Circuit records, particularly CDs. I’d like to try pass these on cheaply to people who don’t have them, as it seems a shame to have them in boxes in my spare room.

Please have a look at the record sale. Prices start from 99p and will hold through the Christmas weekend. Orders will be posted out on Tuesday 27th.

Celebrate Record Store Day with a signed LP

Today’s Record Store Day, and what better day to buy my new LP ‘CHiP-POP’ from Norman Records who are the first retailer to stock it – and gave it a rather nice five-star review in their mailout on Friday. Don’t forget the vinyl includes a digital download.

The album will appear in Rough Trade and other retailers next month.

You can also buy from my shop. Any copies sold this weekend will be signed with a message of your choice (drop me a line and let me know what you want it to say!). T-shirts and tapes are now available from the shop too… I can knock a bit of postage off for email orders, please email me before you buy.

Just wanted to say thanks to my friend Sophie for this rather stunning picture of me stabbing the Printed Circuit album launch Lego cake which was made by Yestercake and eaten about three months before the album actually came out. (It probably wouldn’t have tasted as nice if we’d waited.)

It’s a new website…

Eagle-eyed visitors will notice that the website looks a bit different today. Thanks Northern Comfort for the new look (they also made the excellent Popbitch site, and spend their spare time posting all the best bits from Take a Break magazine on this blog, one of my personal faves). I will be bringing the ‘Brick It’ t-shirts over from Big Cartel to my own shop and updating all the out of date biogs etc in due course. Enjoy.

After a bit of umming and aahing I decided not to use Spotify this time. Here is an excellent blog on the Pledge Music website about the amount an independent artist gets every time they’re played on Spotify: a mind-bogglingly tiny $0.00077601.

3DS: Tokyo 2005 meets Leeds 2011The 3

On the left is the original DS I bought when on tour in Tokyo in April 2005. I got it in Japan because at that time coloured ones weren’t available in the UK. Weird eh? On the right is my new indulgence. The music/sound app on the 3DS is pretty fun, although not quite as versatile as Electroplankton (also a Tokyo purchase which I still use on stage at Printed Circuit shows from time to time).

Apparently you can put any mp3 through the sound app and the 3DS will turn it into an 8-bit remix. I’m looking forward to trying with one of mine, the results could be pretty interesting. I’ll post it up when I do.

OK, there’s no browser, no shop and it crashed twice last night. I also haven’t bought any games yet because they’re all supposedly rubbish (Super Monkey Ball has been tried, tested and sold to CeX already), but that’s OK – we’re in the future now. We have a Kinect in our house too and it never gets used, really: Nintendo totally won that battle. The 3D camera is great and the mini-games are hilarious – enough to keep me going for the time being. Especially since I now have a crown:

Quite a few people have asked lately why I don’t have a regular vocalist any more – that’s because the irreplaceable Alice Kain, who sang on Movements and Switch It On, now lives in Chicago. If you’re curious, check out this video for her new start-up bakery. And if you’re in Chicago, be sure to purchase some of these lavender cakes and tell me what they’re like..

Speaking of curiouser, a box of LPs went missing last week which has delayed the pressing yet again, as when they showed up they were damaged. I’m escaping the record label stresses for Italy for a few days but will be right back on it when I get home. I must say, that transparent blue vinyl is looking proper ace! And it’s realy finished, not long now..

CHiP-POP is nearly here

The vinyl release of ‘CHiP-POP’ is in the post, I hope to have it assembled mid-March for sending out but as I am on hols you might have to bear with me a little longer. Thanks for all your kind comments about the download. I’ll get it sent up to Bandcamp, iTunes etc around the time of the vinyl release.
